Friends of SteepHolm have formed a mainland based social & support group called the SteepHolm Shirkers. They are a group running social events throughout the year and raise awareness of the trust and some desperately needed funds to assist its work to preserve the flora, fauna and antiquities of the island. You don’t have to slave away on the island to be a member but if you are partial to good food, a little wine and good company then this might be just the group you need to join. It is just £3 to join and this covers the costs of the newsletter and postage, which will give you an itinerary that will be the envy of all who decline.
